Virtua Tennis, directly translated from the classic arcade stand-up, is a light-year away from the Pong-style tennis of yesteryear. Thanks to the rich 3-D graphics, precise animation, and realistic sound effects, you’ll think you’re sitting courtside at a grand slam. However, because of the game’s basic controls, you won’t have to spend years at a tennis camp simply to master a backhand. The game’s surfaces include hard-top, grass, and clay, each having its ball bounce and sound response. Choose from eight globally rated tennis players and play against advanced computer opponents, or connect an extra controller and compete against a buddy. Ball boys, chair umps, and even fans react to your game, much as in a genuine championship.
